NASAR will be holding SARTECH (III, II, I) evaluations at the annual DuPont Experience NC SAR exercise on November 6-10, 2015.
Written exams will be on Friday night at 2100 in the mess tent. Practical stations for SARTECH II and SARTECH I will begin Saturday morning at 0900. SARTECH I night navigation will begin at 2100 Saturday night.
Please have your certification fee with you (cash or checks only) when you arrive. Costs are as follows:
Member Certification fee: $55.00
Non-Member Certification fee: $70.00
Membership with certification: $110.00
Annual Membership: $75.00
If you wish to purchase your NASAR membership at the time, your SARTECH I certification fee will be waived.
Personnel who have previously taken a NASAR certification and failed, but wish to re-test must contact the Lead Evaluator, Earl Tilton prior to the event at ERTILTON@GMAIL.COM.
Make certification checks payable to “NASAR”
Anyone who has previously taken their written exam must provide proof of this prior to taking the practical exam.
SARTECH I candidates must also provide proof of current CPR or medical responder certification as well as SARTECH II certification as per NASAR policy.
The DuPont Experience charges a minimal fee for attending. If you intend on staying on site or participating in any of the other activities throughout the weekend you must pre-register through the event web page. You can find that information here: http://dupontrescue.com/
Please note that as of July, 2015 NASAR has eliminated the pack list from practical testing. Though we will no longer be calling off a “shopping list” of equipment we will be checking to make sure you are capable of performing as a professional Search and Rescue Technician (do you have water for the operational period? Can you build effective shelter? Can you provide basic first aid for yourself and subject? Do you have food for yourself and possibly your subject? Do you have clothing appropriate for the weather and terrain?).
We will be testing rain or shine, warm or cold. Traditionally it rains and/or snows at DuPont (we’re lucky like that), please be prepared for this as you will not be allowed to go to your car or tent for additional clothing once testing begins on Saturday, if the weather turns bad. We also don’t break for lunch so we ask that you make preparations accordingly.
