NASAR Train-the-Trainer Positions Now Available
NASAR is currently seeking applicants for the contract position of Instructor
Trainer (IT). It will be the responsibility of the IT to coordinate and conduct
Train-the-Trainer workshops for organizations that choose to license the NASAR
education programs for the purpose of instructing and/or certifying the members
of their organization in the field of search and rescue according to criteria
established by NASAR. Travel is required.
The position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform
the function:
IT shall be a member in good standing with NASAR at the time of the workshop.
Applicants must be a Traditional Instructor for NASAR a minimum of three years
prior to assignment as IT and must be a current, active Instructor for the course
in which they would be conducting Train-the-Trainer workshops.
The IT shall have a thorough understanding of the course material they are instructing,
and have sound knowledge in the principles of adult education and presentation
skills. The IT shall also have a sound working knowledge of NASAR administrative
processes and be thoroughly familiar with the NASAR Education Program Policies
and Procedures. The IT shall be able to effectively instruct the students in all
aspects of course administration, operations, and insure the students understanding
of the materials which they will be teaching.
The IT shall insure the following areas are covered in any Licensing Workshop:
1. Thorough review of the NASAR Licensing Memorandum of Understanding.
2. Ongoing requirements in a Licensed Program.
3. Use of Personal Services Contracts for course registration.
4. Timeliness and accuracy of administrative forms.
5. Fee schedule for Licensed Program training.
6. Course materials including testing instruments.
7. SARTECH testing processes for those tests authorized under the licensing agreement.
8. For SARTECH II testing, the process for establishing a testing site.
To be considered for a position as a NASAR IT, the candidate must submit the
following:

Ø Statement of availability for travel
Ø Letters of recommendation as follows:
o 1 – current supervisor/employer
o 2 – former students
o 1 – current or former co-instructor
Workshops are conducted at the request of local licensing organizations resulting
in an unpredictable travel schedule. There is no guaranteed minimum or maximum
quantity of workshops a NASAR IT will be called upon to conduct during the year.
ITs conducting Train-the-Trainer Workshops shall be reimbursed according to applicable
U.S. government per diem rates. Airfare shall be provided by NASAR. The IT shall
be paid $100 /day during the workshop. For example, if the workshop is one day
in class and one day setting up a SARTECH II testing area for demonstration of
the testing process, the combined honorarium would be $200. NASAR Instructor Trainers
are strictly prohibited from charging additional fees for their instruction.
