This course is on 3/4 - 3/6 & 3/25 - 3/26 (both weekends are mandatory)
This curriculum is centered on search and rescue field operations for personnel anticipating working in a wilderness environment. Skills will include lost person behavioral traits, active and passive search tactics, environmental hazards, essential clothing considerations, navigation, basic low-angle rope rescue practices, equipment considerations and much more. There will be both indoor classroom and outdoor field training with night time operations taking place the second weekend. Students will be expected to dress accordingly for the weather. Students completing both weekends of the class will be awarded both a National Association for Search and Rescue FUNSAR course completion certificate (which allows them to challenge the NASAR Search and Rescue Technician II certification exam) and National Ski Patrol MTR II certification. Though designed for search and rescue / ski patrol personnel, anyone looking to improve their outdoor knowledge and skills is encouraged to attend.
