This is the NASAR Fundamentals of SAR course. We will possibly be adding the National Ski Patrol MTR 1&2 with it. Course cost is $200 per student. This fee includes the NASAR fee, text, and student packet. Students must bring a compass (sighting type preferred). No packs are needed the first weekend. The second weekend will be in the field rain or shine. Students must attend both weekends to get credit.

This is the combined Introduction to SAR course and SARTECH III Certification. The class is hated by Pope County, Arkansas and Yell County, Arkansas Emergency Management Agencies. NASAR SARTECH II and SARTECH I testing. Cost per candidate is $75.00
Written test at 0800 at the above location. Students are to bring pencil, compass and 1:24,000 grid reader. Following the written exam, candidates will move to the field testing location in Hot Springs, NC.
SARTECH I candidates are encouraged to help evaluate SARTECH II candidates if they wish to begin the NASAR SARTECH Evaluator process. All candidates will be required to bring their agency-specific 24-hour SAR pack. NASAR no longer mandates a "pack list". Contact the Lead Evaluator if you have questions.
SARTECH II Evaluation stations will include Tracking, Clue search (area and route), Knots, navigation (day).
SARTECH I Evaluation will include hazardous terrain crossing, knots, team briefing, navigation (night).
Candidates who have already taken their written exam previously, or need retesting in field stations may meet the testing group at the testing station. Contact the Lead Evaluator for location and information. If retesting is within 12 months of a previous failure, retesting is FREE. Evaluator candidates are welcome.
Prerequisites are: 1. Evaluator candidates MUST BE an INDIVIDUAL NASAR MEMBER. 2. Pass NASAR SARTECH written exam with an 80% or better. 3. NASAR Evaluator application paperwork filled out and ready to submit to NASAR before class.
