The Election for the 2018 Board of Directors positions is upon us. There are two (2) positions from the seven (7) member Board that will be vacant and subject to election for three (3) year terms. The term of service for these positions will start in January of 2018 and end in December 2020.
Over the past several months, the current Board has made some changes to help simplify the election system.
First, we reformed the Nomination Committee to the Election Committee, more representative of their oversight responsibility for the entire election process. The committee structure now includes a previous Board Officer, not just previous Board Presidents and it includes two (2) voting association members. This provides better transparency and diversity for the election process.
Secondly, we are retiring the older nomination process that required signatures. This process was difficult for members to comply with due to the broad geographic area we cover. To become a nominee this year, members only submit the appropriate paperwork and comply with the appropriate bylaws and they will be placed on the ballot. Hopefully this will encourage more members to consider running for the Board.
The nomination period opens 1 June 2017 and closes 30 June 2017. To become a nominee, you must submit the following information:
- A passport style photo
- A two hundred and fifty (250) word biographical summary
- A candidate statement (format provided after initial interest is received)
- Complete the NASAR background verification process (if you have not already done so). Details for the background verification can be requested through Chris Boyer, email@example.com.

The election itself will take place from 30 July 2017 through 30 August 2017 utilizing the secure third-party election web site.
